Urban Decay | Afterdark Palette | Review

Hey guys, so I’m trying to think up some more review ideas but it’s rather difficult as I haven’t been able to purchase any new makeup for a while, (currently waiting for the next student loan to drop so I can treat myself again).

I thought for this post I’d do a small review on my current favourite eyeshadow palette, Urban Decay’s Afterdark! At £39.50 I can say it is rather expensive but it’s so worth it if you’re an everyday eyeshadow wearer like I am.

This was definitely an impulse buy, I didn’t really research into it I just really enjoyed the colours and hey it’s Urban Decay so I knew it was going to be good quality. The colours in this palette are so bold and bright and I love that they all have a slight shimmer to them. You really can experiment with these as I manage to get bright popping eyes for when I’m feeling that bit extra but also really subtle everyday makeup out of this baby.

IN ORDER L-R: Paralyzed, Fringe, Lounge, Backfire, Druggie, Off Duty, Sinful, Supersonic, Scene & Alter
You get 10 colours in this palette ranging from light to darks. My favourites and most used have to be ‘scene’ and ‘supersonic’ these can be blended nicely together to create subtle ombre style eyes…

I was tired and had uni so this was rushed, but it’s a good example of how subtle the palette can be
I also am in love with the shade ‘fringe’ I’ve used this on a few recent looks you may have seen, especially if you follow me on Instagram, this is a bright green/turquoise colour and pairs amazingly with ‘sinful’. These are two of my favourites to achieve a bold cut crease. It also blends nicely with ‘creep’ from the original Naked palette for more of a smokey eyed look.

It’s also used in my first ever youtube video, so if you’re interested in seeing how it turned out check it out here

This is the palette I use almost every day, if you’re like me and love bright in your face eyeshadow yet sometimes enjoy toning it down this is definitely something you need to add to your collection.

Just to add, it goes so well with the Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Moonchild Glow Kit, those of you who know of this will know it has different pigments in each highlight so it’s nice finding a glow that you can pair with your eyes!

I’d just like to take a moment to thank everyone for the support, your comments and likes mean everything to me because I’m still getting to grips with this whole blogging business!

What’s in my bag?

Hey guys, so I’ve seen a few bloggers do this kind of thing and its something people seem to be really interested in, so as voted this is a post on what my bag contains on a daily basis.

Untitled-2
No images taken from others. All images are my own.
  1. My purse: The most important thing when taking my bag out, I’ll always check my purse is in there even if theres nothing in it. Half the time my bank cards/money aren’t in there either they’re in my oyster holder/pockets but it’s still something I must have.
  2. Passport: The only form of ID I have since I lost my provisional 2 years ago, I still haven’t got round to ordering a new one. I enjoy a spontaneous beverage every now and then so this is another important thing to keep on me at all times. I look about 15 still so get ID’d everywhere, especially when I’m in London.
  3. Headphones: I can’t leave the house without my headphones, especially when I’m venturing out alone. Gotta have music everywhere I go.
  4. My till key: Not something many people will constantly have on them. If I didn’t take my till key everywhere then I’d forget it (I’d forget my arms if they weren’t attached to me to be honest). Fellow Wetherspoon’s workers will understand the feeling of dread you get when you forget this and have to face being on floor all day.
  5. Thierry Mugler – Alien: My favourite perfume ever. If I’ve got my bag on me I’ll have this on me. It’s a scent many people recognise, I’m constantly walking past people and hearing *sniffs* “someones wearing alien” and I actually love it. It’s also refillable which I find amazing because it’s slightly cheaper than going and buying a whole new bottle. I have a 60ml bottle and have the parfum not eau du toilette so it wasn’t cheap but it lasts all day so it’s worth it. I got mine for £69 from Feel Unique. If you’ve never had a whiff of this your nostrils are missing out.
  6. AVON – Little Black Dress: For when I don’t want to waste the expensive perfume I’ll wear this or Britney Spears – Hidden Fantasy. A cute Christmas present from my nana, makes a nice wear if you’re doing nothing too important and aren’t going out for long but still want to smell super cute.
  7. Lipsticks: I usually carry around a few different ones at a time so I can switch it up during the day. I often mix 2 shades together as well to make different tones/ombre effects. Different shades depending on how I’m feeling basically. I’m loving pinks and neutrals at the moment so these 4 are some current favourites of mine. ‘NYX Cosmetics: Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt £6.50, Soft Matte Lip Creme in Zurich £5.50, Lip Liner in Currant £3.00’ all brought from Boots and ‘Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick in Inclination’ £3.00 at Superdrug.

Usually I have about 50 receipts, chewing gum packets and all kinds of rubbish in the bottom of my bag also, I’m really not good at bag cleanliness. I’ve recently sorted it out so it’s quite nice and tidy currently but I highly doubt this will last very long. Once I stop becoming a poor student I’m guaranteeing the receipts to start overflowing from it once again.

Also I’m finding it really handy deciding which blog posts to write next by doing twitter polls. I enjoy finding out what you all find interesting to read so if you don’t already follow me and want an input on what I do next then watch out for me next poll (@emptyheadds).

I don’t know how to be girly…

Hi guys,

This post is a little late but I’ve been super busy with work and travelling backwards and forwards. I’m going to try to get 2 posts up a week but you’ll have to bare with me if ones a little late. I’m a busy little bee so my apologies.

This post is about how I’m entirely unsure on how to dress for my gender and not look like I’m trying. Ever since I was old enough to start picking out my own clothes I’ve never particularly been one to dress in a girly way. In school I’d always get called a lesbian just because of how I dressed and the thing is I’d love to be able to but I just feel like I can’t pull it off. I always look at girls walking around in cute little dresses and outfits, forever wishing I could get away with it.

I like trainers, shirts, band tees all the comfy clothes. It probably doesn’t help that I get cold stupidly easily too so I suppose this has made me adapt into having my own style. I enjoy big baggy shirts and even if I do decide to wear a dress it’s usually the norm for me to shove one on over the top/round the waist.

Sitting on a fake turtle last year at London Zoo in my classic shirt round the waist look

It’s only the past year that I’ve felt comfortable enough to go on a night out in a outfit without a shirt included, even then I still turn to my friends like “yeah but it looks good together” and will be told to leave it behind. All these photos is bringing me onto my next point. I want to start documenting my outfits more, so I need some pointers on how to have your photo taken and not look like a complete awkward toe. I suppose maybe I’m not that confident in front of the camera but honestly what am I meant to do with my face? (I can’t smile without looking like I’m in pain so it’s just not an option for me). Those that follow me on Instagram will notice theres only 1 full body shot of me where I’m not covering my face (shown below), ultimately I hate this photo yet can’t bring myself to delete it at the same time because it’s one of my most liked on there.

I suppose I’m getting slightly better but I still find myself stuck between wanting to be girly and just shoving jeans, a hoody and a pair of vans on. This year I’m making it a goal of mine to try and ‘girlify’ myself and my wardrobe. Any tips would be great, especially on this how to take a full body photo thing because I’m starting to hate not documenting my outfits just because I can’t pose properly.
